Right in the heart of Howden you will find a boutique called Michelle Louise. Once you step inside, it becomes a tardis. In the front of the shop you will find on trend, fashion clothes (all independently sourced by the owner, Sue), shoes, jewellery and accessories.
You can also view and purchase from a selection of my contemporary art work, which is hung on the wall nearest the counter. Currently I have peacock, butterfly, landscape and seascape paintings up for sale.
Tom, who is ever cheerful, works in the boutique and is a trained fashion and visual merchandiser. He’s also a talented illustrator and displays and sells his quirky, handmade greetings cards, which can also be custom-made to order.
The next room leads to further fashion, gifts, candles, high-end make-up brands, beauty products such as Elemis, hand made and tailor-made dresses, handbags etc.. I could go on, but it’s a bit like Pandora’s Box.
After browsing, the back room – the vintage tearooms’ – is perfect to stop and have a light bite to eat – or a pot of tea and slice of cake.
Upstairs are the beauty treatment rooms, Thailand-born Pui has created an exotic and relaxing Thai-themed beauty room, complete with sheer drapes, orchid flowers and buddhas. Here you can treat yourself to a massage, manciure, pedicure hair put-up or facial.
The owner Sue is also in the process of turning one of the upstairs, airy rooms into a vintage fashion room, so if retro, unique style is your thing it will be worth a visit…
